How Long Do I Have To Claim After A Car Accident?Three years is the standard time limit for starting a car accident claim from the date of the accident.
Exceptions● Mental Capability – if a person is not mentally capable to make a claim and a relative or acquaintance has to make the claim for them, there is no time limit.
● Children – If the claimant is under 18, there is no time limit for them to make a claim. But once the child turns 18, they will have till 21 to make the claim.
● Car Accidents Abroad – it varies from country to country about how much time you may get to make a claim. But, depending on the circumstances, you may still be able to make a claim under UK law.
● Criminal injuries – if you were injured by someone who deliberately hurt you, you can claim through the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA).
